About Bharati

Bharati Shapero began her career in education in her teens volunteering at the after care program at the Salvation Army in Charlottesville, VA. While attending The George Washington University, she continued on her path by joining the D.C. Reads project as an Advisor/Tutor helping children throughout the Washington D.C. area learn to read.

D.C. Reads acted as the catalyst towards Bharati's true goal in life: her passion for kids. With this motivation, she transferred to the University of Virginia (UVA) to pursue her Masters in Education. She has since received her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology at UVA and continues her studies in the field of Education.

After College, Bharati joined the team at the Community Preservation Corporation in New York City where she worked with low income families. In this capacity, Bharati educated the families in issues of urban development, including taxes, loans, and insurance issues. While in New York, she remained committed to the education of children through her participation at Learning Leaders, a non-profit organization, serving the children of the New York City public school system.

Bharati has been a member of the Kingsmont family since the summer of 2001 when she began here as a Division Leader. Her superb leadership skills combined with her own personal knowledge of leading a healthy life style has promoted her to her current position as Administrative Director. With her background in non-profit organizations, she has brought along an acute sense of caring and affection for children into our Kingsmont family. Bharati also serves as our resident Yoga instructor.
