Parents, if you or your camper have additional Questions that you think should be Answered on our web site, please call: 1-877- FIT-CAMP toll free or e-mail us at info@campkingsmont.com.
Q: What will my child's day be like?
A: Weekday schedules provide four day activity periods... the first three periods are one hour long with other children of your child's age (called their division). Activities include soccer, swimming, paintball, ropes course, drama, camp arts, nutrition, etc. The longest period of the day, two hours, is CLUB TIME, which gives them the option to choose which activity they enjoy most. On weekends, many of the regular divisional activities are supplemented by "whole camp" fun days that can include full camp water fights, capture the flag, carnival day, etc.

Q: What about laundry service and should I send my child's sleeping bag and pillow?
A: Camp Kingsmont does not supply linens as this may make your child feel less "at home". We require that each camper
bring 2 sets of sheets and pillow cases; while one is being washed, the bed can be made with the other.
We also recommend bringing a sleeping bag for the occasion when the division goes backpacking or camps out under the stars.
The bag can be unzipped and used as the bed blanket in the bunk.

Q: How much weight will my child lose?
A: Kingsmont kids have more to gain than just losing weight. Camp Kingsmont treats each child as an individual which is one of the ways we make Kingsmont feel like a "regular" camp. We place more importance on body measurements than the scale. Upon arrival campers are measured to establish baseline data and are remeasured at departure, the changes are amazing. This approach lessens the obsession with what the scale reads and broadens the child's awareness of changes in their body composition. When muscle tissue replaces fat tissue dramatic results occur. "Before and After photos" are completely optional and can be taken any way your camper wishes, street clothes to bathing suits. A "Before and After" photo will never cement the child's weight loss achievement, nor will it control future eating and exercise habits, it is just one of the many tools to mark success. It is the changes that go on inside your child that count and who knows this dynamic better than your child and the staff at Camp Kingsmont, many of whom were overweight campers themselves.

Q: What is your camper to counselor ratio?
A: Camp Kingsmont maintains a 4 camper to 1 staff member ratio, the lowest in the industry, to assure proper supervision of its campers. Also, the owner and directors live right in camp and participate in daily activities with the campers, serving the meals and providing nutritional training.

Q: What efforts are made to help the children when they return home?
A: In a way, almost any camp could call itself a weight loss camp. Just control the food and keep the kids busy burning off calories. The challenge is the months and years after camp. The key to Kingsmont's focus on long term success is what both camper and parent learn about ACTIVE LIVING and HEALTHY EATING as a family unit. Camp Kinsmont IS 100% effective if the family applies the curriculum which prescribes nothing more than a desirable lifestyle when it comes to eating and exercise. And we agree that change is not easy for people or family units.
