Expressions Program

While our Connections Program encourages campers to look inward, the Expressions Program is all about developing socialization skills
and being exposed to new and different activities. We guide our campers through a
wide variety of games and theatre experiences. Expressions activities are loads of fun! We look to discover hidden talents, create an atmosphere conducive to the
development of creativity and build confidence of expression.
Campers make friends and develop close relationships. These friends often become a critical support mechanism for campers when
they return to school and home. We have been building the Kingsmont Family since 1967.
Our Expressions Program also provides an outlet to deal with many of the issues that are not covered in the Connections Program. The
Expressions Program allows campers to examine critical issues from different perspectives through role playing. Campers are asked
to step into different situations and determine acceptable responses.
Learning From One Another
Each camper is a unique individual and has a unique contribution to make to life at Kingsmont. We recognize that we can
all learn something from one another. In addition to role playing situations, we also plan and execute a short play. This
gives interested campers the opportunity to broaden their theatre skills.
Many of our evening activities provide an excellent outlet for individual creativity. Talent shows, karaoke nights, games
and dances all encourage participation and reward fun. Our staff and campers motivate each other to get involved and let loose.
The close comradeship of camp life and the knowledge that everyone is working to the same goal leads to a feeling of belonging
and an enthusiasm for success. The friendly atmosphere is infectious and greatly aids in weight loss.
Photography, Videography & Music Production
In addition to role playing, theatre and the evening activities, we also offer a variety of additional outlets for interested
campers. These include photography, videography, music and audio production.
Photography and video clubs will work with our staff and get a chance to work on future camp promotions and update the camp web
site with current materials throughout the summer. This will involve some computer time.
2010 brings a significant focus on music and audio production. One of our directors, Danny ‘Ginger Pits’ Heisler is currently
on track to graduate with a degree in audio production and is quite accomplished on a variety of instruments. Pits will be
conducting a music club and wants to create a video or two during the summer. In addition, Pits mixes all music at our dances
and is always looking for interested campers to assist him. Finally, a contest will be held while at camp to write and produce
original songs. Campers are invited to bring their instruments and get involved in the fun. You might even learn a thing or two
along the way.
